On the number of matchings of graphs formed by a graph operation

Let G be a simple graph. Define R(G) to be the graph obtained from G by adding a new vertex e* corresponding to each edge e = (a,b) of G and by joining each new vertex e* to the end vertices a and b of the edge e corresponding to it. In this paper, we prove that the number of matchings of R(G) is completely determined by the degree sequence of vertices of G.

Effect of thermal treatment on the magnetization processes of nanocrystalline Fe80Ge3Nb10B7 alloys

The dynamic magnetization processes of nanocrystalline Fe₈₀Ge₃Nb₁₀B₇ alloys after annealing at different temperatures are studied through the permeability spectroscopy. Three steps of crystallization are found when amorphous Fe₈₀Ge₃Nb₁₀B₇ alloys are heated from 300to 1200 K. The dominant magnetization process varies with different annealing temperatures. Domain wall bulging is the main magnetization mechanism under weak applied field. When the applied field exceeds pinning field H_p, the depinning-involved domain wall displacement occurs. Different annealing temperature results in different H_p. The lower value of μ′ and high relaxation frequency after heating at 923 and 973 K are due to the strengthened domain wall pinning and the increase of magnetocrystalline anisotropy.     

A characteristic difference method for the variable-order fractional advection-diffusion equation

In this paper, we consider a variable-order fractional advection-diffusion equation with a nonlinear source term (VOFADE-NST) on a finite domain. Combining the characteristic method and the finite difference method, a characteristic finite difference method for solving the VOFADE-NST is presented. Its stability and convergence are analyzed. This new method is shown to be more efficient and superior to the standard finite difference method. Numerical experiments are carried out and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of theoretical analysis.     

On the Kirchhoff index of some toroidal lattices

The resistance distance is a novel distance function on a graph proposed by Klein and Randi? [D.J. Klein and M. Randi?, Resistance distance, J. Math. Chem. 12 (1993), pp. 81–85]. The Kirchhoff index of a graph G is defined as the sum of resistance distances between all pairs of vertices of G. In this article, based on the result by Gutman and Mohar [I. Gutman and B. Mohar, The quasi-Wiener and the Kirchhoff indices coincide, J. Chem. Inf. Comput. Sci. 36 (1996), pp. 982–985], we compute the Kirchhoff index of the square, 8.8.4, hexagonal and triangular lattices, respectively.
